Like I said, I've spent several years beta testing quite a lot of pro audio software on Windows 8 - if there was a significant difference, or even a noticeable one - I would have found it long ago. 8 and 10 were the significant break from Win7. That's the real reason - to save money.ĭAW and software users in general need to realize that what you think you read from these companies in the form of a "technical requirement" is mostly there to save them time and money - at least in this case. The reason is Presonus just wants to minimize support tickets from inexperienced and beginner users, and eliminating Windows 8 means tech support doesn't have to know as much about OS compatibility. This artificial lockout has nothing to do with the WASAPI stack, FLAC or WMA, and neither does Windows 10 vs 8. Tell users they won't get tech support for Win8 systems if you must - fine.
